Remembering Peter Goyette
Peter Aaron Goyette, age 62, of Honesdale, Pennsylvania, passed away in June. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Peter graduated from Honesdale High School in 1981 and then attended Wilkes College.
From there, Peter assisted his father in running the family business, BGM Fastener Company, which was their passion. This year, BGM celebrated its 50th anniversary.
Over the last several years, Peter was able to grow this business with the support of his son Spencer.
Peter dedicated his life to his family, friends, and community. He was involved in many community programs, including St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Parish and the Honesdale Golf Club.
Peter also volunteered his time as a coach at Honesdale High School, with the Biddy Basketball Association, the Honesdale Little Baseball Association, Wayne County Teener League Baseball, Missy Basketball Association, and Wayne Highlands Youth Football Organization.
Peter always had the innate ability to put others first. His generous heart and compassionate spirit touched countless lives. And, although we deeply mourn Peter’s loss, we take solace in the fact that his spirit will live on in the hearts of so many family members, friends and colleagues.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Heidi (Smergut); his children, Sydney, Spencer, and Sophia; his mother Judy (Brownell); and his sister Judi Goyette. He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Goyette.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the Honesdale Biddy Basketball Association in care of the Dime Bank, PO Box 509, Honesdale, Pennsylvania, 18431.
