Mike Barnes Appointed General Manager of ASG, Division of Jergens
Jergens announced hiring Mike Barnes as general manager of the Advanced Systems Group (ASG) Division. With this role, Barnes has global responsibility and oversees staff that provide torque control, fastening, and precision assembly tools to customers in nearly 30 countries around the world.
“I’m excited to leverage my experience, enthusiasm, and energy to help lead and build the business,” Barnes said.
ASG has a “think big” philosophy as evidenced by the revolutionary X-PAQTM, launched in 2010, the soon-to-launch next generation X-PAQTM, and the ingenuity the team brings to solve customer’s assembly and automation challenges daily.
“Many of the skills I’ve acquired working with companies at various stages of maturity, from early-stage startups to established industry leaders, will be helpful as ASG capitalizes on its unique capabilities to grow and scale,” Barnes said.
ASG got its start in the mid-1970s with torque control screwdrivers and other assembly products and solutions. It became an official Jergens division 10 years later, and in 2010, transitioned from a wholesale distributor to a designer, manufacturer, and distributor. Through its ASG Express, Precision Fastening, and Automation offerings, customers can choose to purchase specific devices or engage with ASG to design entire systems for their assembly needs. ASG is committed to excellence and has continued to deliver against the mission-critical specification requirements for applications in military, medical, aerospace, and automotive end markets, among others.
Prior to joining ASG, Barnes spent time in consulting, commercial and investment banking, business development, a SaaS startup, and private equity and venture capital investing. He is eager to combine his interpersonal skills, analytical rigor, and bias for action to drive a well-honed strategy, effective operations, and a collaborative team at ASG. Barnes has an entrepreneurial mindset and capitalizes on creative ways to deliver scalable organizational processes.
