Mark Shannon Awarded NFDA’s 2025 Fastener Professional of the Year

The National Fastener Distributors Association (NFDA) is honored to announce that the 2025 recipient of its Fastener Professional of the Year award is Mark Shannon.

In his nomination of Mark, Nick Ruetz stated, “Mark has been an incredible mentor to so many in our industry. He’s always carried himself with the highest degree of character and is always willing to help. He has been a connector of people even when it meant no benefit to himself or his company, but rather because it was the right thing to do.”

Mark is a second-generation leader who dedicated 47 years to the company founded by his father in 1967. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, he began working in the business as a teenager, learning every facet of operation, from the warehouse floor to the executive suite.

Under his leadership, Tower Fasteners grew into an industry leader recognized for exceptional customer service, operational excellence, and strong supplier relationships. After taking the reins following his father’s passing in 1997, Mark expanded the company’s reach, including opening its first European distribution site in Dublin, Ireland, in 2018. In 2022, Tower Fasteners was acquired by MSC Corp., where Mark served as president and led the company through a successful transition.

An active member of the NFDA since 2000, Mark served as president from 2008–2009, playing a pivotal role in expanding membership and guiding the organization through challenging times. He also contributed to numerous industry boards, advisory councils, and international supply chain initiatives throughout his career.

Outside of work, Mark is an Ironman athlete, passionate about outdoor activities, and a dedicated volunteer, supporting veterans and individuals in recovery. He lives with his wife Debbie between Long Island, New York, and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mark has built a legacy of leadership, integrity, and innovation and plans to remain engaged with NFDA and the fastener community in retirement.

He will receive the award at the NFDA Annual Meeting and ESPS® in Charlotte, North Carolina, on June 12, 2025.

Nominations for the next Fastener Professional of the Year award will open in January 2026.
